OneNote - How to retain your OneNote content if you are leaving Scotch
If you are leaving Scotch and want to take your notebooks with you, please follow the process below.
Unfortunately, Microsoft has disabled the "Save my class notebook" feature, so the next best option is to copy section groups into a new notebook that is linked to a personal or 'new' business OneDrive account.
NB: If you have a Windows device at home, you can open your Scotch notebooks on your Windows device and then export these files. Learn more here
FOR MAC USERS:
Step 1: You will need a new M365 account (it can be a personal or a new work account)
Step 2: Add your new personal Microsoft account to the OneNotet app
- In the OneNote desktop app > Click on File > Open Notebook > Click on your Name/account and click on the ‘+’ to add a Connected Service
- Under Add Storage account, select OneDrive – Add your Personal account.
Step 3: Log in with your personal/work Microsoft account and create a new notebook (if you don’t already have one)
Step 4: Once Added, go back to your Scotch Notebooks and right-click on any of the section groups / sections and select ‘Copy section to’, and select your personal notebook as the destination. I recommend you move individual sections into a 'section group' and then copy the 'section group' - this will allow you to copy multiple sections at a time and speed up the process.

If you have multiple notebooks, you can create multiple new notebooks in your new account and copy relevant sections into these notebooks from your staff and class notebooks.
NB: Remember to COPY (DO NOT 'MOVE' content from shared staff notebooks, as this will remove the content for all staff using this notebook.
