Year 12 Laptop Buyout (2024)
At Scotch College, Year 12 leavers have the option to purchase the MacBook Air laptop they have been using for their studies.
Please note that, as part of the laptop buyout process, an automatic charge of $500.00 will be applied to your account in Term 3.
- If you intend to purchase the laptop, the fee can be paid under normal business conditions.
- If you do not intend to purchase the laptop, the laptop and power adapter must be returned in good working order by Friday, 22nd November 2024 and your account will then be credited $500.00, minus any potential repair fees.
Please be aware that on December 31st, your student Scotch account will be closed. Students must carry out a few crucial steps beforehand to ensure a smooth transition away from Scotch.

OPTION 1: PURCHASE LAPTOP
- The laptop comes with its remaining Apple Care warranty: check my Apple warranty status
- The device must be presented to the Tech Centre before Friday, 22nd November 2024, to remove the Scotch management software.
- Please note that the laptop will automatically lock down if it is not presented in time.
- We also advise your son to bring their laptop to the Tech Centre as early as possible in Term Three so that any repairs that are still covered by warranty can be made.
OPTION 2: RETURNING THE LAPTOP
- The laptop must be returned by Friday, 22nd November, 2024.
- Upon return and inspection of the laptop, a credit of $500.00 will be issued to your account. Credits are processed via the Finance Department.
- Each device will be inspected by an Apple Authorised service technician, and you will be notified if any non-warranty repair fees are incurred.
- This charge will be applied to your account in accordance with the terms indicated in the Information Learning Technology Device Programme - ILT Device Fact Sheet.
