Student Departure Checklist [Senior School]
As you prepare to embark on your journey beyond Scotch, you should take the following measures to ensure your data is backed up and you can continue to access your accounts and subscriptions once your Scotch account is closed.
- Year 12 leavers - your account will close on 31 December.
- Students in other years, your account will close on your final day.
1. Update subscriptions associated with your Scotch email address
To maintain ongoing access to your personal accounts and subscriptions, it will be necessary to update the associated email if you have previously used your Scotch email to register.
This is particularly important for Year 12 leavers who need to access their SCSA Student Portal Account. Accessing your ATAR results and other crucial data may be difficult if the email address you used to register is no longer valid. Use a personal email address instead.
2. Transfer of files
To ensure the accessibility of your files after you leave, it is necessary to transfer them onto an external drive or personal cloud account before leaving Scotch. This includes not only documents and projects but also photos from your Photos app.
For this process, you will need a USB-C adaptor to connect the external drive to your MacBook. Alternatively, you can opt to store your files in a personal cloud account such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or any other cloud storage service of your choice. Make sure you have enough space on your external drive or cloud storage to transfer all your files.
Uploading your files to the cloud provides the advantage of accessibility from any device with an internet connection, ensuring that you can retrieve your data whenever and wherever you need it.
3. Save Class Notebooks
The process for saving your Class Notebooks is more complex. If you would like to keep a copy of your Class notebooks, refer to the instructions outlined in this guide: How to save a copy of my Class Notebook
4. AppleID associated email address
If your Scotch email address is linked to your personal AppleID, you will need to change this prior to your Scotch account being deactivated. Learn more
5. Browser Favourites
If you are presently logged into a Safari, Google, Edge or Firefox account using your Scotch email address, it is advised that you change your account settings (update email address) for continued access.
