Data Migration for Middle School Students
Due to the upcoming migration of data from our current PLCScotch M365 account into our new Scotch M365 account, there are some important steps that must be taken prior to the migration to ensure you don't lose any of your work.
THE MIGRATION WILL BEGIN ON FRIDAY 3:30PM, SEPTEMBER 22nd AND END ON THURSDAY 7AM, SEPTEMBER 28TH.
During this time, you will not have access to your OneDrive files, Class Notebooks, Teams, or other Microsoft Suite applications. Therefore, the following will need to be completed prior to September 22nd:
The key steps for each application are outlined below. Please click on the links for further instructions.
PRIOR TO MIGRATION
1. CHECK ACCOUNT PASSWORD
You will be required to sign back into your account when you return to school after the migration. Make sure you know your current account password. This is your SINGLE SIGN ON:
USERNAME: Student number
PASSWORD: Secret password (Example: Reddog24)
2. UPDATE DEVICE SOFTWARE
It is essential that your device is running the most up-to-date software.
Your iPad should be updated to iOS 16.1.
UPDATE IPAD AUTOMATICALLY
Go to Settings
> General > Software Update > Automatic Updates.
Turn on Download iPadOS Updates and Install iPadOS Updates.
UPDATE IPAD MANUALLY
At any time, you can check for and install software updates.
Go to Settings
> General > Software Update.
The screen shows the currently installed version of iPadOS and whether an update is available.
3. ONEDRIVE
- Organise your files in Office 365
- Home.scotch>Office365>OneDrive
- Check the files on your OneDrive app match your files in the browser
4. ONENOTE AND CLASS NOTEBOOK
- Open OneNote on your iPad
- Check your Sections and Pages
- Make sure there are no locked folders in Collaboration Space as these will not be able to be transferred if locked
5. TEAMS
Please note that all files saved to Private or Group Chats in teams will be lost. If you want to keep access to these files, you will need to download a copy and save it to your OneDrive prior to the migration.
STEP 1:
Open the chat and click on 'Files'. This will show you all files that have been sent in the chat.
STEP 2:
Select the file you want to keep and clip on the ...
Select 'Save a copy'
STEP 3:
Select 'Save to Files'. This will give you the option to save to your iPad or to your OneDrive.
6. MS FORMS, SWAYS AND STREAM
It is unlikely that you have used Forms, Sways or Stream. However, If you have Microsoft Forms and Sways that you want to keep, please see Ms Louden or Mrs Behiels for assistance.
7. MOBILE DEVICES (if applicable)
If you have signed into any office apps on your mobile device (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, OneNote, etc.), you will need to sign out of these applications prior to September 1st and then sign back in after the migration
AFTER MIGRATION
1. ACCOUNT & WIFI
- You will need to sign back into your account + Scotch WIFI with your SINGLE SIGN ON.
2. OFFICE APPS
- You will need to sign back into your Office Apps: Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote with your SINGLE SIGN ON.
- Sign in with your school email and password
3. TEAMS AND CLASS NOTEBOOK
- Once you have signed back into MS Teams, you will have access to your new class teams.
- Click on your class team to open the Class Notebook (if applicable), then click [Open in Desktop App]
- Check that all your individual student work has been copied across.
If there are sections or pages missing from your student space, you can copy content from your old notebook into the new one.
- Once you've checked and copied any work into the new class notebook, you can close your old class notebooks in the OneNote App.
4. ONEDRIVE
- Sign back into the OneDrive App to start syncing your files to your device.
- Please note that all old links from OneDrive will no longer work, and you will need to generate new links. This might impact links you have added to your Class Notebook to share files.
