Class Notebook - Locking Pages
Why would you use this feature?
Locking pages prevents students from editing them after deadlines have passed and the pages have been marked. This gives a clearer picture of how the students are managing their time and workload.
This feature also allows teachers to unlock a specific student who has an extension on an assignment due to illness or absence while keeping the page locked for students who did not complete the assignment on time.
By using this feature
- Teachers can lock all the pages of a distributed page as read-only after giving feedback to the student.
- Teachers using Microsoft Teams to create OneNote assignments can have the page of the OneNote assignment automatically locked as read-only when the due date or time passes.
Important note:
Page locking only works on OneNote for Mac when a page is distributed or made into an assignment. For example, if students copy the pages manually from the Content Library into their own notebooks, the teacher will not be able to lock and unlock these pages, nor can they go into a student folder and lock and unlock pages by right-clicking on a page (this is a feature of OneNote for Windows).
How do I lock or unlock pages?
Step 1: Click on "Class Notebook" > "Review student work."
Step 2: Select the folder and page you want to review.
Step 3: Select Page Locking
You can "Select All" students or individually select students. The quickest way is to select all and then deselect those students needing an extension.
Once you lock the page, the students cannot make edits.
