Class Notebook - Distributing and Retrieving Sections & Pages
By using the Class Notebook toolbar, you can easily distribute pages to individual student notebooks in a couple clicks, and it’s just as easy to review work at the end of the lesson.
This feature enables teachers to quickly monitor student activity and progress and, where necessary, provide ongoing feedback.
Distribute: Pages | Sections | Section Groups
1. Select the page(s) you want to distribute to students (from the content library or teacher-only section).
2. Click on the "Class Notebook" tab.
3. Select "Distribute Page." (You can distribute pages to all students, groups of students, or individuals, providing greater opportunities for curriculum differentiation.)
4. Select the "Section" in the students’ notebooks that you want to send the page to. (If the section is not available, you will need to distribute the section or section group before you can distribute the page.)
You can also distribute new sections or section groups to all student notebooks. This is good for when you are starting a new topic and you didn't create the student sections when initially setting up the Class Notebook.
Section groups help to keep content well organised, reducing the cognitive load placed on students trying to locate content. Section groups allow you to join multiple sections into a group (see image below).
Reviewing Student Work
Once you have distributed a page/s to the student spaces, you can easily review these pages by clicking on the class notebook tab > review student work > select section > select page to review.
This tool automatically pulls the selected pages from the individual notebooks, so you can flick through quickly and not have to go into each student’s personal space. This is a big time saver!
You can sort by surname or first name and even lock pages so students can't edit them after a certain time.
NB: You can't use the review student work feature when students 'copy' pages from the content library into their personal space; the teacher must "distribute' the page to be able to retrieve it.
Use this feature:
- during class time to see how the students are going and where they are up to.
- when marking homework or course work that has been assigned.
